Tesla Wall Connector EV charger install by YKCA in the Bay Area

EV Charger Installation

Level 2 EV Charger Installation — From $1,200

Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint, JuiceBox, Wallbox, Enphase — hardwired or NEMA 14-50, load-calc honest, permit and inspection included. Fixed written quote before we lift a tool.

What & Why

Brand-agnostic, code-compliant, load-calc honest.

Most Level 2 chargers draw 40–60 amps continuous — a real share of a typical 100A residential service. We start every install with a full NEC load calculation, confirm the panel can support the charger, and quote the panel upgrade up front if it can't. No mid-job surprise charges, no sales push for an upgrade you don't need.

We install Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint, JuiceBox, Wallbox, Enphase IQ EV — and any other brand the customer specifies. No brand quotas, no commission on hardware. The charger is your choice; the safe install is ours.

Brands We Install

Every major Level 2 charger, no brand quota.

Pick the charger. We install it. We do not earn commission on hardware — the brand choice is yours, the safe install is ours. Common brands we mount weekly:

  • Tesla Wall Connector — hardwired, 60A or 100A, universal connector for non-Tesla EVs
  • ChargePoint Home Flex — 50A, app-controlled load management, scheduling
  • JuiceBox 40 / 48 / 80 — Wi-Fi connected, budget-friendly
  • Wallbox Pulsar Plus — compact, power-sharing for multi-charger garages
  • Enphase IQ EV — integrates with Enphase solar + IQ Battery
  • Universal / Other — Grizzl-E, Emporia, Lectron, Autel, anything else

If your charger came in a box, we'll install it.

Load calc honest — before we lift a tool.

If your existing panel handles the charger, we say so. If you need to drop charger amperage or add a load-sharing device, we recommend that first. If the panel actually needs an upgrade, we quote it up front — bundled with the install on the same day.

No sales push for upgrades you don't need.

FAQ

EV install questions, straight answers.

Straightforward residential installs typically run $1,200–$2,800 including labor, permit, and basic materials (charger supplied by customer). Longer cable runs, exterior installs, and conduit through finished walls add cost. If a panel upgrade is required, that adds $3,500–$6,500 on top. We provide a fixed written quote after the $200 on-site assessment.

Hardwired (no plug) is faster, more reliable, and required for chargers above 40A. NEMA 14-50 outlet is cheaper short-term and lets you unplug for travel, but introduces a connection point that can wear and arc over time. For Tesla Wall Connector and most high-amp chargers we recommend hardwired. For plug-in models like older JuiceBox or portable units, 14-50 is fine.

A typical residential install is 4–6 hours on-site once permit is in hand: mounting, dedicated circuit run, breaker install, charger termination, GFCI test, commissioning. Longer if cable run is through finished walls or attic. Final city inspection is usually scheduled within 1–2 weeks of completion.

Yes — every Bay Area city requires a permit for an EV charger install. Skipping the permit is an insurance risk and a problem on resale. We pull the permit under our C-10 license, schedule the inspection, and deliver the signed permit card with the invoice.

Tesla Wall Connector is the most common for Tesla owners and now ships with a universal connector for non-Tesla EVs. ChargePoint and Wallbox are popular for multi-vehicle households and app-controlled load management. JuiceBox is the budget option. Enphase IQ EV is the right pick if you also have Enphase solar. We install all of them — we have no brand quota.

Depends on capacity and existing load. 100A service with a few major appliances usually maxes out around 30–32A continuous for a charger. 200A service typically supports a 40–60A charger without trouble. We run a NEC load calculation on every quote so you know up front whether your panel handles the charger or needs an upgrade first.
